Alex Budney is a Vermont-based bass player/singer with substantial experience in ‘the other side’ of the music business, with extensive history booking entertainment at clubs as well as coordinating music and infrastructure for events. He’s known for his approach to multiple genres of music including Reggae, Blues, Rock, Soul, Groove, and Improvisational music.

Alex has performed, toured, and recorded with musicians such as Dave Keller, Seth Yacovone, Johnny Rawls, EVNGwear, Cotter Ellis of Goose, and many more. He’s shared the stage with acts such as 311, Arrested Development, Ray and Russ (soule monde / members of Trey Anastasio’s Band), Gov’t Mule, Robert Randolph, Oteil Burbridge, and countless other acts.

When Alex was 13 years old and eager to follow in his older brother Justin’s footsteps as a musician, it was Justin who encouraged him to pick up the bass guitar. From there, his self taught journey of playing bass and singing started. From his early garage bands to his latest endeavors, he’s managed to be playing in bands for 30+ years continuously. 

His current bands are the Seth Yacovone Band (original rock blues improv), EVNGwear (jazzy electric grooves), PURPLE ft. Craig Mitchell (Prince tribute), Al’s Pals (covers and other favorites) and also selects tunes as DJ Steal Wool. In addition, Alex is often booked for studio recordings and hired as a sub bass player.

Alex is an excellent collaborator when booking bands, vendors, and events. Having run the Music Department for the famous Nectar’s in Burlington, VT (2 clubs, music close to 365 days a years) for 15+ years, he is well equipped to plan most events from small bar gigs to large festival style stages and everything in between (including private parties and weddings).
